Miss Carolyn Mendillo joins the show and helps the guys announce the upcoming Celebration of Life for her late husband, Pete Mendillo. This legendary and beloved Memphis drummer has played and toured with Jimi Jamison, Savoy Brown, Brian Howe, and Brad Whitford, to name a few. The Celebration of Life will be at Neil’s Music Room on Sunday, July 21st, starting at 5pm. It is a FREE show that will include a night filled with music by dozens of local musicians and 16 drummers. You don’t want to miss this.

In this intro, Derrick and Jeff share their weekend stories, including Jeff’s Gen-X gig at Lucky Dog and Derrick’s gig with Elevation Memphis: A Tina Turner Tribute Experience, where he received next to no applause when introduced to the audience at Lafayette's. They give a shout-out to The Deb Jam Band with Debbie Jamison and recount a hilarious moment when Derrick was called up to the stage while he was in the bathroom. Plus, Derrick shares his experience catching the band Seeing Red at Lafayette's.
In the main portion of the show, Derrick and Jeff engage in a lively discussion with musician and featured guest Carlos Ecos. They explore Carlos's musical background, including his early days in Gainesville, Florida, his influential time in Memphis, and his experiences in the Austin music scene. Carlos recounts his days with the band Gun Down Mary, and his mentors.
